Terrible Movies
01:52
|
|||
Let’s make terrible movies
as terrible as our lives
and see who dies
Let’s meet horrible people
and see if we’re better than them
so we can condemn
In harmony
Let’s go out in horrible weather
so we can see each other outside
as if we need to hide
Let’s sing terrible lyrics
Just as long as they rhyme
They’ll do fine
So we can sing in time

Blue Whale Blues
04:12
|
|||
Remember way back then
in your father’s house
we would stay up till the break of day
and listen to Kid A
but track three I wasn’t sure
you said I was a bore as I recall
but it doesn’t seem that real to me at all
and I’m getting kind of scared
that all of it was just an image from a song
and I saw you there
alone on a train
a single tear ran down your face
and I wish I’d known your name
so I could break your heart
like a tragic piece of art
I would keep it close to mine
I would, yes I would
keep it close to mine as I should
but I’m getting kind of scared, that it was
that all it was, was someone else’s tear
and we could travel far
to foreign lands
we would sleep on the airport floor
and take the flight at four
but we have never met
but still you never let me sleep
those eastern nights still cut so deep
getting kind of scared that all of it was
all too real
and I wished you were
a big blue whale
so I could swim inside your veins
and make my home inside your heart
but there are hunters on the sea
who don’t care that much for me
or what I found
so I will build my house on solid ground
I will, yes I will
instead of me swimming round and round
besides I would be kind of scared
that it would be hard to breathe inside a metaphor

Your Own World
03:40
|
|||
Painting your world in colors so bright
never need no one to blame
Tried oh so hard that you have forgotten
your own name
Remember the clothes that they wore
who know from where they came
It was all so different before
but know we know the shame
To hold you to our standards
hardly seems to be fair
Because in your own world
there is no one who can compare
Now the blood begins to boil
Just like any other oil
Tear them right off and scream at the night
to try to make it right
To hold you to our standards
hardly seems to be fair
Because in your own world
there is no one who can compare
You know all of the words
But the timing is just not there
You know in your own world
There is no one who can compare

Fireworks and Powerlines
04:10
|
|||
In the home he built, the carpenter whose corridor
was as crooked as the knee
that you pushed onto the cavities you felt would never
need or miss the air
In the dark of night beneath the powerlines
how they slit the night
Hear the sounds they make, as if looking for a friend
to reach the light
But the dark it seems to cast out anyone who tries
With the dawn they’ll come to sell them back to you the clothes that you once gave away
and the path it seems familiar to me but the dust it seems to dry today
They will leave when they’re full and they won’t give a damn
of what you think is fair
So you tore and you tore the carpet from the queen
to reveal the flaws in all our plans, so let’s do it all again
Take the last few seconds to realize
that it was the same city where you fell in love
We would walk in the scorching sun
and that perfect place would elude us
and the fireworks are just chemicals
that I don’t understand
So you hid the keys to keep yourself from harm but from whom or what was not so clear
In any case you should spray in with pesticide and see who’ll come out alive
The static sounds till dawn it will always be the same
no matter what you steal
though no one needs the power that they bring
they can help me feel alive until the dawn turns everything to dust
Take the last few seconds to realize
that it was the same city where you fell in love
We would walk in the scorching sun
and that perfect place would elude us
and the fireworks are just chemicals
that I don’t understand

Without a Rider
04:17
|
|||
Without a rider
bowed down to the ground
out of time there
tuning in and they turned around
Without a rider
don’t know who’s feeding you
Run anywhere
to see if there is something new
The lights are so bright
make everything so small
the sounds are not right
made you throw them to the wall and fall
It might be time
to put him down
It might be time
It might be time
to put him down
It might be time
One more time
might just be the one
like in your prime
riding off into the sun
Without a rider
once thought it was you
but there’s a place where
all the promise that you knew is true
it might be time
there might be time
for one more run before we go
it might be time
to put him down
there might be time
for one more run before we go
it might be time
to put him down
there might be time
for one more run

Games Will Go
04:50
|
|||
They’re singing all these songs of love
I know you want to pull them all apart
The message that they send is strange
dreary souls could see the light of day
Paying all the bills from above,
ashen men and uninspired art
You would think it’s possible to change
so your sympathy won’t wither and decay
you know that games will go this way
never asking why
still you want to play some more with them
they said that all will be displayed
we know that is a lie
we’ll never know the wile that you need to win
and what it worse is that there will come a time when I will fold as well
Your indifference is bothering me
The room is closed, as if I’d want to see
Your indifference is bothering me
it floats in the breeze and begs you to believe
you know that games will go this way
never asking why
still you want to play some more with them
they said that all will be displayed
we know that is a lie
we’ll never know the wile that you need to win
and what it worse is that there will come a time when I will fold as well

Black Dog (White Socks)
02:02
|
|||
Why do you come around here
come around round here
neither me nor mister Churchill want you anywhere near
Why, oh why, oh why do you
wear white socks on your feet
Do they issue passports for your kind
passports for your kind
so anywhere I go, you’re always close behind
Why, oh why, oh why do you
wear white socks on your feet
Why do you always find me when I’m all alone
Just sit down relax a bit chew yourself a bone
Why, oh why, oh why do you
wear white socks on your feet
Is it so that I won’t hear your claws hit the floor
Is it so that I won’t hear your claws hit the floor
Please don’t sneak up on me like that anymore

He built the respect out of stone – the beast envied him.
As much milk as there is of bones – another came to win.
Troops were hers, they’d go and part the mother’s shame.
the young were her children only in name.
Fairly happy there with the collapse of the child.
Break down the doors and be glad– they were all so young.
With the last breath that they had – (they asked) is this the mother tongue?
The words are lost in between two worlds,
The language played the joke on us - and we could laugh along
Wit can never be bargained nor sold
Share this moment with me I would hold you in my arms
But I guess the same joke is now upon us.
What once was “our hearts’ truest desires”
has become „bodies need cardiac organs“.
And now I laugh alone at Shellfish, a military person.

The House We Built
09:10
|
|||
It‘s a worn down old thing
just like this weary soul
the wood has withered, the walls are thin
and the roof is full of holes
We‘d fill the walls with sawdust
To keep out the cold
It was too hard for me, but you said we must
for when we grew old
I sometimes look outside that window
to see the house we once built
It sunk down into the ground
with all the guilt,
But you‘re no longer around
You‘d dig down, down, down
with the dirt in your face
and your fingernails brown, brown, brown
‘cause I didn’t want to take your place
so you dug and you dug all night and day
for a secret place
So we could sometimes hide away
and disappear, without a trace
But was all so tame and small
so you just built some more
but the storm blew it down in the fall
we’ll do it again, I remember we swore
I sometimes look outside that window
to see the house we once built
It sunk down into the ground
with all the guilt,
But you‘re no longer around
We found that ol ‚ wreck of a truck
in the mud among the horses
We’d clean off all the muck
To see if it would drive by some stranger forces
So we could drive across the land
with swamp flowers on the dashboard
and see about that band
Along the ditch mile after mile
we used to pull our raft against the stream
so we could drift in peace just for a while
and the clouds would melt into a dream
And at night we’d try to find
the way up to the surface
to time we’d pay no mind
We’d sneak first light of of day
while the people slept inside
though we didn’t need real instruments to play
we’d live the dream, or at least we tried
I sometimes look outside that window
to see the house we once built
It sunk down into the ground
with all the guilt,
But you‘re no longer around
The years change our ways
so we don’t know the same songs
you’re too old to play or too young to stay
but I’d still try to tag along
cause I also like to roam
I hoped our mother doesn’t see
But the years they do and pride never let me be
And I would cry all the way home
I’m sorry that I
Forget or can’t forgive
Imagined crimes or dreams gone by
But most of all, when I forget to live
I then look outside that window
Where there’s a line of guiding lights
Like so many years ago
on those cold november nights
And see us sitting there
ready to start building
that old house all over again
now it’s clean and warm inside
and secret rooms to hide away in
And that old car is parked outside
ready to go, travelin’
All our friends are there
we’ve brought back our dear old band
In a great big hall, the music we’ll share
It’s the ball that we never had.
I sometimes look outside that window
And see that you‘re sometimes around
